Textile ATC Swap

Very Berry Handmade

It seems the month of May is going to be a busy month for me, as well as a month of firsts, I have joined a swap, textile ATC swap, hosted by Ali over at Very Berry Handmade which is a fabric artist trading card swap, the image above is a ATC. The 'card' which isn't a card but fabric is 2 1/2 by 3 1/2, I have May to complete it and it has to go out the first week of June.

These are the fabrics I will be choosing from are black and white and a little bit of grey thrown in. It's a secret swap, so I can't say who my partner is, but the theme is Something New. I'm pretty sure I know what I am going to do, so watch this space as they say.

Bye for now

Country Cottage SAL

My first SAL how exciting is this?

The main reason I bought this book, is because I love the quilt that matches the pillow on the front, Val Spires from Val Spires Sews and I are doing a SAL. We are starting with the cottage garden sewing set, and we will be reporting in every two weeks.

I must admit I thought I would be further along that just having the fabric and threads I only just got them all together this week, next time there will be more happening it's a promise.

I just wanted to say thank you for all your kind comments to my last post, and all the crafty facts about yourselves, its fun getting to know you. x

Bye for now

The best kind of shopping

Yesterday I said I was going to Cottonpatch for the first time, well we (hubby came with me) went through the city centre to get there and I thought on the way I might as well pop to the market, and I left with 3 metres of fabric and a little bit of ribbon.

Then we went to the main event, they have so much fabric it was like fabric candy and best of all you don't get fat. I walked round a few times and I keep thinking how am I going to pick just some?

I managed it in the end I picked,

  • 4 x 14 non-slip patchwork ruler
  • 45 mm rotary cutter
  • A quilters magic seamer
  • 7 long quarters.

Which means I have 10 new fabrics to play with, which in my book is a good day.

Bye for now

Flowers finished

I've finished the flowers I started last week or at least that's when I think it was.

Not bad (even if I do say so myself) for a free gift on the magazine. Isn't it great the things you find going through your stash. Now what to do with it? I think I'm going to add fabric and make a cover for a notebook, journal, or even a cookbook I have that looks worse for wear, poor Delia, but they tell me it's the sign of a good cook book.  First to find the fabric I like to go with it, any idea of what colour I should use, bright, soft?

Good post day.

The postman arrived early today and I am happy to tell you that it was a good post day.

My lovely friend sent me a spare thread box, which means now I have all 5 that I want, it also had some thread in it , she is a Anchor girl and I am a Dmc, so she has sent me the dmc ones she had Plus some fabric, which was a complete surprise thank you so much Jean.

Second piece of post was Cross Stitcher, I have it on subscription, have done for years, I love that retro cushion, going to see how many of the colours I have, it's going to have to go on my to do list.

Last but not least, a little delivery from my fabric house 6 fat quarters. I have a feeling I am going to turn into a fabric junkie.

Have you heard, that, the makers of Great British Bake off are doing a new series, The Great British Sewing Bee starting in the Spring? Roll on the Spring I say.
